RULES OF ENTRY
To be eligible for entry into the Ohio Safe Driving Championships
The driver or their company must certify the following:
(1). The driver has been continuously employed as a truck driver by his/her present employer during the
past 12 months.
This requirement may be waived with respect to a driver who is otherwise eligible an whose change of
employment arises solely out of economic conditions.
(2). The entering employer shall verify with every other employer for the preceding 12 months, the dates worked
by the driver and that the driver maintained an accident free record.
(3). The aggregate time off from the duties of a professional truck driver does not exceed 30 calendar days in the
12 months prior to the contest.
(4). The driver has driven and performed the regular duties of a truck driver for at least 11 months.
(5). The driver has not been involved in a motor vehicle accident in the course of such employment. The
only accidents which will not be counted against the drivers record are;
(A). The contestants vehicle was legally and properly parked.
(B). The contestants vehicle was stopped in traffic in compliance with a traffic sign or signal, or at
the direction of a police officer.
(6). The driver resides or is domiciled in the State of Ohio.
(7). The driver meets the D.O.T. Physical qualifications for drivers.
(8). Employee’s in the following job classifications are NOT eligible to enter the driving competition.
{a}. Spotter, Hostlers, switchers or yardmen.
{b}. Employees used occasionally as drivers.
{c}. Employees who drive truck incidental to their principal duties.
